Faye Tan is a dance artist from Singapore and is based in the UK.
She has a decade of experience working as a full-time dancer with repertoire dance companies National Dance Company Wales (UK) and Frontier Danceland (Singapore). Since graduating from Rambert School and VERVE, she has worked with over thirty choreographers from all over the world as a performer and collaborator in new creations and restaged works.
Her movement and choreographic practice is nourished by her extensive experiences of working with international choreographers and her explorations of different dance styles, cultures, methods and techniques such as ballet, house, hip hop, popping, locking, acrobatics. By improvising and making with a wide range of movement possibilities as well as combining illusory and realistic impressions of weight, time, and sensation, her choreographic work evokes the nuances and complexities of human emotion and are often odes to experiences of the cathartic and sublime. In her artistic practice she delicately navigates departures from the wealth-driven, materialistic, consumerist, patriarchial, heteronormative, mononormative, post-colonial, state-led capitalism of her upbringing.
Faye has previously been commissioned to choreograph for National Dance Company Wales, VERVE (UK), Frontier Danceland (Singapore), the Centre for Advanced Training (UK), Rambert School (UK), House of Tengri (UK), musician Dirk Stromberg, and School of The Arts Singapore.
Aside from performance and choreography, Faye has been a dance teacher and facilitator for a wide range of people. From introductory workshops for first-timers to professionals in company class, from private coaching to mass audiences of school children, for participants from three-years old to ninety-six, for the neurodivergent, the d/Deaf and the disabled.
Teaching and faciliation credits include Rambert School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance , National Dance Company Wales, Frontier Danceland, School of The Arts Singapore, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, The Middle Floor, Butterfly Soup.
Faye is experienced in providing mentorship for new graduate dancers, as a rehearsal director and movement director.
Faye also holds a Foundation Degree in Digital Marketing and has previously been the digital marketing officer at Frontier Danceland. She has created dance films in the past which have been shown at film festivals in the UK and in Singapore. She occasionally takes on work as a graphic designer, photographer, videographer and filmmaker.
"She is a future leader in our sector."

“... unbelievably beautiful. I had happy tears in my eyes and was on edge throughout. Everything I love about dance in one piece.”
"Faye Tan and Mario Manara, in particular, shine throughout the piece – their solos and duets expressing raw emotion, as heart-wrenching as it is awe-inspiring."
